New Stuff
I created the following 46 images
from very distressed (fucked up) 1"
plate steel hand burned out with
an oxyacetalene torch. I made no
effort to "clean up" these steel
cut outs, front or back, because
I like them that way. This act has
been in a sense bringing it all back
home to when I began cutting out
graphic steel figures from the litter
of scrap parts of ocean going barges
we were constructing for the Alaska
pipeline project in 1975 at Bethlehem
Steel's San Francisco ship yard. These
figures cut from steel do not pretend
to be anything other than what you see here.
In art an image will speak to you just
as much as you will speak to the image.
You and I need not be experts to
understand what is right in front of us.
But sometimes it can help.
